WORSHIP NOTES

--His Hands His Feet Sunday Service begins at the CHILDREN’S PARK enclosed shelter house at 9:30am. Our “service” will be our “service.”

--Offerings are for the General Fund and the Ministry Center / Building Fund. An offering for this fund is taken the first Sunday of each month. While the Ministry Center was paid off in 2023, ongoing expenses occur and with increased staff and the potential of additional office and storage space, it’s important to keep looking to the future as we grow and have adequate funds available to expand if needed. While we aren’t actively raising money for the purpose of a future permanent home for Bridge of Hope, building money in this fund, along with equity in the Ministry Center, would someday help fund a permanent location.

To all Sioux Center CRC’s: You are invited to the Ascension Day worship service at First CRC on Thursday, May 9, at 7:00pm, led by Pastor Kurt Monroe.

Last Sunday was our last week of Sunday School! Thank you for sharing your kiddos with us this past year. We know that God blessed our time together and equipped us with a new understanding of Him and His story. Promise Lambs will meet yet on May 12 & 19 and then will take a break over summer, resuming after the Labor Day weekend.

Congratulations, Graduates!  We would love to celebrate with you and your graduate.  If your child is graduating from 8th grade, high school, or college, we'd love to hear what their future plans are.  Please email Sarah Stoub at sarah@bridgecrc.org with your graduate's name and what they will be doing next year (name of school, future job, etc.).  We will be celebrating graduates in the service on Sunday, May 19.

The Shepherd nomination process continues:

Below are the names of those who have been nominated by the body and agreed to have their name remain in the selection process. To better acquaint yourself with each nominee, they have been asked to fill out an online questionnaire. Go to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t7NdDujJ9lUFGN7gTerff8YnkaqI-iQi4NqzfHE_rRM/edit?usp=sharing to read their responses. If you checked before, you may want to check again as nominees are able to fill out the form.

Pastoral Shepherd Nominees: Daren Dieleman, Ellen Korver, Christina Postma

Service Shepherd Nominees: Tom Coulander, Koty Vande Griend, Dustin Vanden Hull

  • On Sunday, May 19, we will have a brief “body” (congregational) meeting following worship to affirm those who have been placed in nomination. This is done by ballot. ABSENTEE BALLOTS will be available on the information table on Sunday, May 12. They can be returned by giving them to Glen Boer or filled out and turned in right away.

  • On Sunday, June 2, we will cast lots from those who were affirmed by the body. One (1) name will be chosen for Pastoral Shepherd and one (1) for Service Shepherd.

  • On the 30th of June we will install those who have been chosen. That afternoon the incoming, outgoing and remaining Shepherds will meet for Council Orientation.

ADVANCE NOTICE: There will be a meeting on Sunday, May 19 following the morning service and after the vote for affirming shepherds for the SCCS Legacy Plan. BOH Sioux Center Christian families:  Please plan on attending the SCCS legacy plan meeting following the morning service on the 19th. Important information will be shared regarding the legacy partnership between BOH & SCCS and how BOH will be financially supporting your student in the 2024/25 academic year. We will also be sharing information regarding the Iowa Educations Savings Accounts and how they financially impact BOH and Christian day school families.  If you cannot attend on the 19th, please contact Derrick Postma @ 712-578-9778 or dczpostma@gmail.com.

Cadets: (Boys in grades 5th-8th) This year the local 3-day campout will be at Oak Grove on July 11-13. There will be canoeing, swimming, and a lot more fun activities. There is usually a service project as well. There is still some planning going on but depending on how big of a group we get we will probably meet at either Faith or Covenant Church on Thursday morning, July 11 at 9:30am and head out as a group. Then on that Saturday, parents are usually invited to come out later in the morning to see the camp and pick up their son, usually everyone is on the road before noon. If your son is interested or you would like to know more, please contact Jeff DB at 441.6249.

Additional announcements can be found in the Community Activities Sheet, a weekly publication of activities/events pertaining to the Christian Reformed churches in Sioux Center, as well as other churches within our community. It originated because of the repetitive nature of the common announcements being printed in Sioux Center church bulletins. It can be found here.

Koinonia Prayer Requests: Prayer requests on Sunday mornings at Bridge of Hope have historically been taken verbally during worship. To help make sharing requests more accessible to all, a google form has been created so that people can share requests at a different time and method than verbally on Sunday morning. Prayer requests submitted this way will be included in the email that gets sent to the body each week on either Monday or Tuesday. (Please note: Any prayer requests submitted after the Koinonia Prayer email has been sent that week will wait to be emailed out until the following week. Also, requests made here will not be verbalized on Sunday mornings by the Pastoral Shepherd leading Koinonia Prayer.) Submitting an online prayer request can be done by following this link: http://tinyurl.com/28ehb28b.
