BULLETIN

Historically, a church’s announcements have been distributed in a weekly worship folder or bulletin each Sunday. The bulletin provided information regarding upcoming events, along with what’s happening during the worship service. While we no longer have a paper bulletin, we do still have  one, it's just digital. A QR Code is provided at church if you want to take a look on Sunday and that Sunday's worship notes and announcements are projected on the screen.

WORSHIP NOTES

This morning’s message will be given by Rev Dr Angela Perigo. Text: Acts 3:1-10; Title: Scrolling or Beholding. Summary: We’ll be exploring how Peter and John paid attention to how God wanted to use them in the midst of their everyday life (on the way to a regular prayer meeting) and how God is inviting us beyond simply scrolling through life into greater attentiveness to his activity in our day-to-days.

Today we’ll witness the baptism of Samuel John Anderson, son of Eli & Abby. We’ll also cast lots from those who were affirmed to serve as Shepherd by the body. Two names will be chosen for Pastoral Shepherd and two for Service Shepherd.

Our offerings will be for the General Fund and the Ministry Center/Building Fund.

Second offerings for the remainder of the month will be for Bethesda Christian Counseling, a counseling service which was established for the purpose of restoring and sustaining wholeness in the lives of all people. They offer hope where there was once despair, turning sorrow into joy. They are doing it all in the name and through the grace of Jesus Christ.

Worship Futures:

Next Sunday, June 11, we’ll celebrate communion.

Sunday the 18th our service will be outdoors at the Sandy Hollow campground.

June 18: Testimony (service at Sandy Hollow)

June 25: Nathan Hitchcock (Installation of new Shepherds / Service of Celebration & Thanksgiving)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Our Children:

  • A NURSERY is provided for those from birth to 2 years old. It’s down the hallway from the gym. Look for the sign indicating its location.

From the Search Team:

We are looking forward to having the Ashmores join us on June 11th! Following the service, you are invited to a time of Q & A with Sam and Gail and the congregation. We are looking for this to be an opportunity for the entire body to get to know them a little bit better, and so we are asking for questions from the body so that we can compile them for a facilitated discussion, followed by a time of open Q&A.

If you have questions you would like to be sure are asked during this time, please email them to cegginkpostma@gmail.com or text to 712.240.0155 by 5pm on Thursday, June 8th. We will ask Sam and Gail as many questions as we have time for and will not disclose the name of the person who submitted the question.

Following the service, we ask that you grab a cup of coffee and/or snack, children from nursery, etc. but then come back into the gym in about 15 minutes to start the Q&A time. We are anticipating about 30 minutes for the Q&A. Thank you!

ABSENTEE BALLOTS will be available that day. A congregational vote will be held after church on Sunday, June 25 on whether to call the Ashmores as our next Pastors. Should the vote pass (75% approval required), a Letter of Call will be extended to them.

Please continue to keep the process, the Ashmores, and our church in your prayers as we discern God’s plan for Bridge of Hope.

HOPE FOOD PANTRY: Help reach out to people in our community by serving at the Hope Food Pantry on Wednesday, June 14. The shifts are 1:30-3:30 or 3:30-5:30. If you would like to serve, please contact Tiffany at 578.9675 or r_tpostma@hotmail.com.

The all-church campout will be June 16-18 at the Sandy Hollow campground. Those who don’t camp are invited to join the campfire on Friday evening; on Saturday, fishing and swimming is available, and a potluck on Saturday evening (bring a hot & cold dish to share; table service and ice water will be provided). The outdoor worship service at Sandy Hollow on Sunday morning will be at 9:30am with a meal following that. For those who plan to camp, please contact Aimee VM as soon as possible for information regarding camping spots: jas_aim@live.com or 441-6231.

New shepherds will be installed on June 25. That afternoon the incoming, outgoing, and remaining Shepherds will meet for Council Orientation.

*Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving! On Sunday, June 25, we will celebrate and give thanks for the work Dr. Nathan Hitchcock has done for us. Nathan will be with us that day, giving the message, installing the new Shepherds and helping to lead the Council Orientation later that afternoon. Our celebration will include:

--An opportunity for everyone to express thanks. Send a note of appreciation by emailing the church office by Monday, June 19. These notes of appreciation will be compiled and given to Nathan.

--Sign Vision 2025! A copy of Vision 2025 will be laying on a table in the cafeteria the next couple of weeks. Please stop by and sign it.

--Words of thanks and a gift will be given to Nathan during the service.

--A POTLUCK will follow the service. Council will provide pulled pork sandwiches and a cake. The congregation is asked to bring a cold dish. Paper products will be provided.

NOTE: Nathan's work with us won't be completely finished by this date. However, he's winding down and will only be working in a limited capacity for a bit longer.

Sioux County Evangelism Weekend- June 30-July 1! This will be a weekend filled with worship, evangelism equipping, outreach, food, fellowship, and celebration!

We (Sioux County Prayer Week/Unity Ministries and Activation Church) will be gathering believers from all across Sioux County (and beyond) to learn how to relationally share the gospel, then we'll team up, pray, and head out into our region and use those skills to spread the message and love of Christ far and wide. To do these trainings and outreaches well, we are partnering with an incredible international evangelism equipping ministry called Time to Revive (check them out- https://www.timetorevive.com/). Here is what the weekend will look like schedule-wise:

Friday, June 30

  • 7PM Worship and Prayer Service to pray for the harvest and build unity

Saturday, July 1:

  • 9:30AM -1:00PM training and outreach

  • 3:00-5:30PM second training and outreach

  • Unity Dinner at 6PM

  • 7:00PM Celebration service

*All of these events will be hosted at The Triple Box in Orange City- 4758 Ironwood Ave, Orange City.

We are trying to get as many churches together as possible for this event, your presence matters! We want to partner with you in making Jesus known as we await His return!

Stellar VBS is coming to Bethel CRC July 17-20. Registration for attendees opens May 15. Children ages 5 through completed 4th grade are welcome to sign up! We also need many volunteers for VBS! The sign-up link for both registration and volunteers can be found at www.bethelsc.org or on Bethel's Facebook page.

Additional announcements can be found in the Community Activities Sheet, a weekly publication of activities/events pertaining to the Christian Reformed churches in Sioux Center, as well as other churches within our community. It originated because of the repetitive nature of the common announcements being printed in Sioux Center church bulletins. It can be found here.
